Crack O' Dawn October

This time of year when we arrive at Lake Erie Metropark it is pitch black and if fact, the lights were out at the Nature Center so it was really very dark. Paul took us early arrivers outside to point out some stars and constellation in the morning sky.  Soon, however, the sun started to come up and we had a spectacular eastern sky. I was really lagging behind the group because I couldn't leave these perfect photo opportunities. It was a chilly walk but very nice, none the less.

We saw three different Herons this morning....a Great Blue, a juvenile Black Crowned Night Heron and pictured above, a Green Heron. We also saw an Eastern Peobe.
 What a beautifly sky!

Beyond, where the windmills are, is Canada. Can you make out the group of people standing in the mist on the very end of the point?

There were duck hunters out this morning with a lot of banging and carrying on. Above are decoys...there was even a decoy that flapped it's wings. Poor ducks. We were yelling "Go the other way".
 Speeding into the mist
Get off the road you guys!

Our group with Inge beckoning us laggers to hurry and join the rest.
