Sunlight on the Lawn

Beverly Nicholes, an English writer from the 40's and 50's wrote a gardening book called "Sunlight on the Lawn" and I always think of the book when it gets nearer to August. There is something about the slant of the sun, the sharp shadows and the look and feel of  fall soon to come. The expression "Dog Days" goes back as far as Roman times and to make a long story short, it refers to mid-July to mid-August, the hottest time of the year.(it has nothing to do with dogs...google it)  So, it is the "dog days" when shadow appear to be so prominent.
As any photographer will tell you (even an amateur like me) it is all about the light, soft light, loosing the light, shadows, and colors.
Great shadows on the above photo and it has an autumn feel to it...even though it was close to 90 when I took the picture this morning....hot and humid......dog days!
