A Summer's Day at Kensington

Beautiful summer wildflowers, two little hummingbirds, Sand Hill Cranes, Great Blues, Egrets, Mute Swans, song birds galore (plus a Yellow Rumped Warbler) all at Kensington Metropark. This does not include great views of the lakes and marshes. Had a great day!

Sunday Fun

Great place for a back drop for picture taking.

Had a great time with my grand kids on Sunday. We did a photo shoot and I got some great pics. After we went out to eat and then came to my house to download all of Emma's camp pictures. Emma had fun with Picmonkey (see pics below) while Liam and I watched the Tiger game. Dairy Queen to follow then back home to Troy.

It's Monday Again!

Well, it's garbage day already...the week has flown by....make it slow down someone! Again I took a week's worth of trash out to the curb but I also managed to fill my baskets full of blessings this week.
I had a stress echo test on Monday and it was negative so I should soon be starting cardiac rehab. That was a real relief. I had a lovely walk at Kensington on Thursday. It was a beautiful day and even though I couldn't do my usual mile or two, I enjoyed a leisurely stroll. On Friday I got an early birthday present from my daughter and her family....a very fancy phone and answering machine. I told Amy if she had only spent a little more money it would probably do my dishes. ;-)  Sunday my two grand kids, Emma and Liam came to visit for the day and I really enjoyed spending time with them.  Today by brother sent me some great photos of his canoe/camping trip from this weekend. I loved seeing them and the beautiful scenery. I have a lot of photos yet to post.
So...... as the garbage truck rolled down the street with all my detritus from the past week, I felt satisfied that I had saved some lovely memories as well. It is my 71 birthday today (happy birthday to me) and I am thankful for all that I have and will continue to save up all the best from week to week!

On the Canal

I had a lovely visit with my friend Rita. Really enjoyed sitting in her backyard which is on a canal in my old home town of Gibraltar. Her and I are two walking wounded and are limited in activities right now. So, it was fun and relaxing to sit and watch all the song birds congregate at her feeders and catch up on all the news.

Rita tells me that this is a juvenile Baltimore Oriole

It's All Happening Here....

in my backyard!

Found this spider hanging by a thread, today when I was watering...creeping looking fellow!
Huge web stretching between my arbor vitas....reflecting in the early morning sun

Waking to the cooing of a Mourning Dove.

I thought that my little House Wren was happily nesting in the bird house, but I haven't seen her at all for over a week. Could this marauder be the reason why. Was she scared away? I am heart broken.

More Mellow Yellow

I had a little walk at Lower Huron last week and had fun chasing this goldfinch around for a picture. All yellow, all fun!
