Detroit Lego City

At The Henry Ford, behind the model trains, there is a wonderful Lego city........
some of the major buildings in Detroit are captured. You could stand and look at all the details for hours.

This is the Fisher Building and by the way, I have toured this lovely old building as well as the Guardian Building and the library. They captured all of our lovely old buildings.
Note: Superman fighting King Kong on the top of the building....some really fun things to see.

 The beautiful Guardian Building.
Santa ringing the bell for the Salvation Army
 People mover
 Detroit Public Library, main branch
Batman vs The Joker and also it looks like the Headless Horseman in front

St. Josephs

The church looks so pretty in the snow and with the Christmas wreaths on the door. Will try church on Christmas day ....don't know how I'll do with my knee but don't want to miss Solemn High Mass, in Latin with the most beautiful music...like heaven.
This is the rectory.... no one had lived in it for 10 years but when the institute took over the church they, with the help of volunteers, refurbished it and now the rector and the deacon live there. The basement was restored as well so they can have catechism, meetings and so on. But this is a lovely old Victorian/Gothic style building...would love to see the inside.
(both pictures borrowed form St. Joseph Oratory facebook page.

American Style and Spirit

'The way I felt about these older clothes is that it is nice to wear them but that it is also nice to save them...they get increasingly interesting with each passing year.'

This exhibit at the Henry Ford shows 4 generations of the Roddis family's collection of their fashion through the years. Along with the clothes, they saved photos, accessories, memorabilia, letters and more. There were several photos showing the lady with the outfit on display. Everything was in pristine condition. It was apparent that they were a wealthy family and fashion forward for that time. I had to wonder who came up with the idea, "oh, let's save our favorite dresses because in 2016 we can show them all at a museum". I think that the Kardashian girls should consider this idea.

You can see in the photo this suit being worn at a dinner.
