Beautiful Summer Flowers

This summer is proving to be a wonderful one....a bit hot today but that's what summer is all about. The flowers are especially beautiful. Which brings me to a comment that I recently got from my daughter. She says she doesn't look at my blog because it is all flowers and birds and she has no interest in this. As many of my followers know, this is not true. I have over 2000 people that look at this blog every month so it seems someone is interested. I shoot photos of things that interest me and like minded will check me out. I do wish that I could get more into urban exploring but it is too dangerous to do on my own. I don't think that too many would like to see photos of people that they don't know (unless exceptionally good). There are plenty of blogs out there to chose from so move along if you don't love flowers because there are a lot on my page. The photos posted today are from the meadow at Lake Erie....more to come....sigh.....

Drinking tea and watching the field being plowed
Cotswold Cottage and the patio to the left where tea is served
I look forward to having tea every year and enjoy every drop from the tea pot. Everything was delicious and no bees this year!

Summer Wine

Back in 1991 I went to England and we stayed in the manor house in the small village of Bosworth. I'm not kidding when I tell you that many of the gardens of an ordinary home looked like these. Many of these gardens were in the front of the house. It was a beautiful little town and I will always remember it and the trip itself where we visited Stratford on the Avon, Nottingham and the forest, London, Warwick Castle and more. The flower gardens really impressed me. When I went back in 2007 they had put in a memorial garden for Princess Diana on the Warwick Castle grounds and it was so pretty. Maybe that's why I love the gardens at Greenfield Village.....always something new in bloom and so well cared for. I like to pretend that it is my garden ;-)

Farm Life

Did I say how much I enjoyed the farm? Thinking I will visit again in the fall during harvest.

Meadow at Lake Erie Metropark

I spent several hours photographing the flowers that are blooming in the meadow. Every year it changes a little....a lot more Monarda (bee balm) this year but the most glorious are the
gray-headed Coneflowers and the Rudbeckia (black eyed susans). I look forward to this explosion of color every year. More to come.

Can't believe August is soon here...

Where is summer going? There is still so much to do and so little time. I always have to work around the weather, between rain and high humidity, that eliminates many days. I can see that I won't be able to fit in a ball game but will go back to the village time and time again. Walks in the parks are a priority, searching for sunflowers and butterflies, catching up with Emma who will soon be off to college, the meadow should be in bloom (going there tomorrow) and soon the lotus will be amazing. Also want to go to the zoo, remembering the fun visit last year with Allison.
Of course, I love autumn and all the beauty and colors waiting to be photographed. Wish I could get down to Pa. as I did last October. Not to be forgotten is fall house cleaning (ugh)....kitchen is always done in the fall as well as carpet shampooing. There should be two of me.
For now, every summer day counts, the hummingbirds keep on coming and I have a rocker front and back......I'm a lucky woman!

Monday....laundry day

I sure would have hated Mondays....first all the water necessary for the washing and rinsing of the clothes came from the pump. That poor young lady must be thankful for her washer and dryer when she gets home. The water is heated over the fire pit and then dumped into the laundry tubs then it's scrub a' dub on the wash board then hung on the line to dry. What about winter or a rainy day?
Wow, we take so much for granted.

 Farmhouse
I did take many pictures of the inside of the farmhouse but I'm not happy with how they came out so chose not to post them. It was very nice in there except for the kitchen....the cast iron stove was going and it was so hot in there. Two ladies that were getting the mid-day meal ready were in long sleeves and long dresses. I was kidding them about air conditioning. The picutre above is the side door that goes directly into the kitchen and the front door opens into the parlour.
The view was quite nice from the front porch and the train tracks were not far away.
