Big Storm Brewing

This weekend they (the they) are predicting a "bomb"....something about a warm front coming in too fast and creating cyclone type winds. Don't really understand it but rain and storms are predicted with wind gusts at 50 to 60 MPH. Yikes ! Guess I won't be putting out my trash can Sunday evening.

My Winter Projects

No, this blog is not turning into a scrapbook tutorial! Just wanted everyone to see all that I've made so far this year. 2 journals and 3 scrapbooks so far. Above, is a journal with 4 signatures.
Journal #2 with 4 signatures as well but one is missing as I'm using it right now.
The signatures are held in with elastic so they can come in and out.
This was old paper that I had left from about 10 years ago when I did a little scrapbooking with mostly pictures of my grandkids. I loved it though and had enough to make this journal.
My Christmas scrapbook "Santa Baby" with all the Christmas pictures from the holiday week. I made 2 of these....one for my daughter and one for me.
This is my latest "Sun Kissed" that will hold photos from my trip to South Carolina. It isn't totally finished as I want to put the photos if first and then decorate.
I"m having lots of fun with this. The weather has been so terrible and unforgiving that I have just stayed in and had fun with paper. There are some beautiful papers out there. I just ordered 3 12x12 packs. One for photos that I will take at Greenfield Village and the other 2 just because I loved them. Will certainly find a use for them I'm sure. Next project is a junk journal which is a whole new ballgame. I have work to do so may put this project off until April/May.

Tea Dying Paper

Tea staining paper for my "junk Journal" that I will eventually be making. A long and nail staining process.
Soaking paper in a hot tea bath.....then they go into the oven at 175 degrees until dry.

Lovely Winter

Yes, winter can be very pretty and I had a chance to take some great photos the other day. It is not easy to find things to photograph with this weather and my reluctance to go out walking in the snow and ice. Again today, we have a winter weather advisory posted for snow, ice and sleet. Just trying to be philosophical about it and go with the flow. If I have to stay in, I am looking forward to starting on my new "junk journal". A lot involved in this one but I have a good start so far. In the next day or two I have to tea dye paper.  Also have to go to John King Books to find some old books.....botanicals, entomology, music scores and old children books. I get so lost in that place and find it hard to keep my focus as I wander among all the stacks and stacks of books. Love the smell of old books! I got off on a tangent. Hope that you enjoy all my snow photos and can feel the mood of the winter scenes.

Surprize Surprize

I had a nice morning at the park yesterday. There was literally no one there but me which made it nice as I could stop in the middle of the road to take a picture. I heard a lot of birds singing but didn't spot any (forgot my binoculars). It wasn't until I got home and was looking at my pictures that I saw that I had not been alone at all. There are three bluebird in this tree. This is the area where there are always bluebirds in the spring and summer. I feel very lucky....my favorite bird!

Magnolia

I usually go to South Carolina in April but two years ago I went in May for my granddaughter's graduation. All the Magnolias were in bloom....all so beautiful and so interesting. The Camellias bloom before I get there, almost in winter. I'm going a week earlier this year so I hope I may find some tulips still in bloom. Can't wait to photograph all that beauty!

Another appointment cancelled, There is ice on everything and my driveway is an ice rink. A lot of debris down as well. Well. what's the sense of complaining....it is winter after all.
Took these pictures with  my phone through a dirty window...lol.
Ya, easy for you guys, all you have to do all day is sit in the window and bob up and down.

Pewabic Pottery

See more below

Pewabic Pottery

We really enjoyed visiting Pewabic pottery.
Museum type rooms upstairs were being redecorated but some beautiful pottery was still on display.

We were able to go into the work area as long as we stayed between the yellow lines. The display on the floor was of a man whose work station was right there.

There was this beautiful fireplace surround in a sales room. So, if you are very wealthy and want some original Pewabic tiles in your house this is where you would go to choose your original design.

I remember these amusing turtles being very expensive.

This is the gift shop with some beautiful things. I didn't buy anything but Mary Jo bought a pretty angel tile.
Sorry about the picture quality....used my cell phone for all of these.

Loved this lizard tile. The picture doesn't do it justice. The lizard seemed to jump off the tile....so real
