June Backyard Garden

My garden is looking so lovely right now. I have only a small little area and a lot of stuff is in pots. Anything in the ground I planted years ago when I was able to get down and dirty.....lol.
Yikes, I see weeds!
Shasta Daisy

I have been so impresses with my photos taken with my phone, if the lighting is just right they come out great. It was a sunny day when I took these but the sun was filtered by the smoke in the air so the sun wasn't harsh. The light just seemed to wrap around the flowers.

Shasta daisies with a galvanized tub of Superbells and a Sweet Caroline Sweet Potato plant in front
Copper vat with supertunia Jazzberry....I love the color!
Lemon Daylilies  and....my Dad's old watering can

Betony

I thought at first that this was Lavender. The garden has a site where you can see what is blooming right now, that's how I found out it's Betony. I hope that you don't get tired of all the flower posts but they are so beautiful that I want to share them with you. I highly recommend a visit to Oudolf Gardens on Belle Isle if you have a chance. Weekday morning are the best because the weekends get crazy on the island. In fact, several weekends they had to close the park....too many cars.

Oudolf Gardens Belle Isle

The beautiful gardens on Belle Isle.....so many wonderful flowers, even in the rain. The purple flowers are Veronica I think. In the background is The Nancy Brown Peace Carillon tower.

Sunlight

Everything in my backyard is doing so well and I had attributed that to the fertilizer that I applied this Spring. It occured to me that cutting down my huge Birch tree may have been a big factor. It let in the sunlight and my whole yard is benefiting. This Clematis has never done this well and my climbing rose in the back is spectacular!

I was sitting on my back porch this morning and saw 3 little Chickadees and later a House finch came to my birdbath with one of his/her offsprings. It's been so dry that I think the birds appreciate my birdbath. It is challenge to keep it filled and clean. I have blackbirds (Starlings/Grackles) that like to bathe and they are filthy birds. The water actually becomes muddy. I need to get out there twice a day.

Salvia

Two different varieties of Salvia that I've had for years......amazing what a little fertilizer will do. Also the Supertunia Bubblegum will overflow that pot in another month or so.
Supertunia Jazzberry...by summer's end you wont be able to see the vat.
