I shot this picture a week or so ago at Lower Huron. I have not been able to identify this bird. Today, I took a few pictures to the nature center at Oakwood Metropark. The young man was not able to name it either but thought that it may be a warbler of some kind. I left the pictures with him and my phone number. He said his boss, who was the bird expert, would be in on Tuesday and he would call me. It's difficult because birds are migrating now.

More Elizabeth Park
The wind is really kicking up today but it is still bright and sunny. I'm hoping that the wind blows all my leaves down the street.
Took these pictures in Elizabeth Park on a great day last month. I remember in the 80's couples went to the iron bridge to have wedding pictures taken. The bridge has fallen into disrepair since then but it still is a scenic spot. Hope to get out to the park this weekend. Still haven't identified these ducks (or geese). Any ideas anyone?

Elizabeth Park
When I look out my window now, I still see that a lot of trees like oak and some maple are just beginning to turn. In the woods, however, most of the trees are bare. It was several weeks ago that I took these pictures at Elizabeth Park in Trenton and it was a beautiful fall day...sunny and warm. The sun on the turning leaves made a great contrast. I enjoyed the day and only had to drive 15 minutes to get there!

Sandhill Cranes at Kensington
What really amazes me about these birds is their total trust around people. You can't see in the pictures but there were people all around them taking pictures and following them down the path. I think they are prehistoric looking. According to a guy I was talking to in the park, this is a family and in the spring the two little ones were baby cranes. He said he was walking around them and one of the parents smacked him on the leg. They were pretty blase when I walked around them.

Dear, Oh Deer!
The trail that I walked on Sunday was called Deer Run and it is rightly named. The deer in the 3rd photo down was not the least afraid of me. I sat on a log about 12 ft from him and he continued to eat, glancing at me occasionally. He was still there when I left. He must know that there is no hunting allowed in the park.

There was a photo opportunity around every corner this morning at Hudson Mills Metropark. It was chilly with frost on the ground when I got to the park at 8 am. I never thought to bring a hat and gloves.
After the first mile I got warmed up though. The color is about peak right now. I though that Lower Huron Metropark was closed but found out on their website that one can get in from the back side off of the park off of Haggerty. I want to get there this week to get some fall pictures on the Paw Paw Trail. Went to Miejers and bought glove with the finger cut out and can be folded down into mittens...perfect for using my camera. Saw a deer this morning and a gray squirrel. Didn't have any chance of shots of birds...saw a flock of Cedar Waxwings.

Kensington Metropark, nature trail photos
There is a surprise around every corner when you walk the trails at Kensington! There is wildlife and birds everywhere. This time of year is the best and the colors should be near peak this weekend. I always wish that I could share this all with someone but no one I know wants to walk...so I share it with my photos. Also check out my pictures on flickr. My name on flickr is hey sweetie.

What a friendly flock
I met a very friendly couple on the trail at Kensington Metropark. The gentleman told me that he has been coming to the park since he was a kid and the birds have always been tame here. I snapped this pic of his wife (her hand anyway) feeding a chickadee. I took all these pictures in the same spot. Pictured below is a downy woodpecker, a titmouse and a nuthatch. Thank you birds for being so friendly, trusting and photogenic!

A Detroit Lion Celebrity
Hi everyone, I've been laid up with bronchitis and am still recovering...in that time I have forgotten how to type and spell...jeez.
Have entered 7 pictures in a Metropark photo contest, so wish me luck.
Interview anyone? Pictured, is my grandson, Liam, who was in his element touring Ford Field and the Lions facilities. Thanks, Heather, for the pictures!
