The Marsh in March
It was such a nice day on Sunday that I decided to skip my photography shoot and go out with my camera in search of spring. Could not find any green any where nor were there any song birds...plenty of gulls and Canada Geese though. About 80% of the marsh was still frozen over. It did feel good getting out and I enjoyed the walk. I did find some bulbs poking up in my own yard although there are still patches of ice here and there. Many neighbors out doing yard work....amazing what the weather will do...I haven't seen these folks in months.
Having fun with the new backgrounds that I downloaded...just something different. Watch this space for some great gull pictures.

Spring is NOT Just Around the Corner
Despite the date on the calender, spring is not coming anytime soon! Why do I know this? Because on Tuesday it snowed on and off all day, on Wednesday morning when I woke it was 11 degrees and there are still piles of dirty snow everywhere, including my yard...ugh! Sure there are a few Robins here and there and sure on opening day the temperatures will reach the mid 50s but then the temps plummet again. I can't find any green any where in my yard although my neighbor has a few shoots of something coming up next to their house. It is almost April and this is a crying shame but should I complain? No, I could have lived at the bottom of the mud slide in Washington State or I could live in the Crimea, or been on the lost plane,or I could be a Republican in the House of Representatives or worse I could be Rand Paul....now that would be very disturbing. So, I am happy to live in Michigan where we have very few natural disasters and I can live my little life happily watching Rachael Maddow and agreeing with all she says.
So much for the weather and before I go on another tangent I will sign off for now.....as Rachael says "Watch this space"

Athens Theatre Company Presents
Seussical
the musical
I had so much fun seeing the high school musical that my grand daughter was in at her high school. Emma's first expeience being on stage and she looked like she was having a great time. For all the pictures that I took of her you would think that she was the star...well, she was to me ;-)All these kids are so talented and the whole production was professional from the stage set to the orchestra pit players. Job well done Athens High School cast.
Tim with the show's program
Horton
Emma looking cute as ever. She was in the chorus playing a jungle animal.
Cat in the Hat and JoJo...this 6th grader was a pro...excellent!
Great job, Emma....now for the cast party!

Weaver Birds
We had a great time watching these male weaver birds build a nest. I understand that they build their nest to attract a mate but the other antics were pretty spectacular as well. They hung from branches and flew close to our heads without any fear. A beautiful exotic bird in the Detroit Zoo Aviary.

The Fisher Building
The Fisher Building was built in the New Center area in Detroit in 1928 just finishing before the Great Depression. It is in the Art Deco style and is filled with beautiful mosaics and granite. It also contains the Fisher theater. We really enjoyed our tour with the knowledgeable tour guide and were able to go to the 26 floor to photograph Detroit from above. I took so many photos that it is hard to choose which to post so I will have a few different postings just to sample. There is so much information about this historic building that I am posting a link so that you can read it all for yourself if you are interested.
The Fisher Building
This is the shop that sells t-shirts and gifts as well as sponsoring the tours.
Tours are the same as the Guardian Building, every Saturday and Sunday 11 am and 1 pm.
All the details were gorgeous!
Jeff and gang
Actually there are 4 of these barrel hallways which includes entrance doors.
Taken from the third floor where we were able to get a close up look at the beautiful ceiling.
This is at the main entrance and has been walked over by so many that it was starting to wear away and is now roped off.
Afterward we hit our favorite Mexican restaurant in Mexican town....yum!
Next week we will be photographing model trains and trying some new techniques.
