Searching for Spring...

......and I found it. The Red-winged Blackbirds, harbingers of spring, are back! Their unique sound filled the park. I think that the males migrate first to find their territory before the female fly in. I didn't get great pictures I'm afraid, but this one shows buds on the trees as well as a Blackbird. Spring is on the way!

PawPaw Trail

Pawpaw trail is no longer maintained at Lower Huron Metropark. One of these days I am going to check it out anyway. I really miss walking the Pawpaw.

Rain, rain go away....

This is the most beautiful Monet garden located in Overland Park, Kansas. This photo was taken in June, 2013. I love this place and hang out there whenever I visit my son in Kansas. I hit it just right in June when all the perennials were in bloom.

some of the beautiful Peonies that were in full bloom.

Meanwhile, here in February in Michigan the cold weather and snow have magically disappeared to be replace by inches of rain....everything is flooded and it is miserable out there. Some piles of snow, all black and dirty, remain behind.....ugh. Looking forward to my vacation to Myrtle Beach where instead of the Overland Park Arboretum, I will enjoy Brookgreen Gardens with all the beautiful blooming Azaleas

snow pictures :-(

From December and I thought it was high then.

My snow measurement and as you can see it's pretty deep in my backyard with more to come tomorrow. A snow advisory just issued until Monday....they just plowed my street today and my guy has been to do my drive twice already. I'm staying home until Monday when I am forced to go out for an appointment.
Fascinated by all the icicles. These are mine but both of my neighbors have far outdid me...below my neighbor in the back. The guy next door has an icicle almost to the ground.
These pictures were all taken through my window and I know that they are pretty bad.
I think that decorative flag says "let it snow" what fool put that there....lol

Cobalt blue eye wash cup

Treasured Things
This is a cobalt blue eye wash cup, one of my favorite collectables. My grandfather had very pale blue eyes which apparently were easily irritated. He used this cup to rinse his eyes out with boric acid. I can still picture him getting it out of a kitchen cupboard and I would watch, spellbound,by this eye washing procedure.  I don't know how I got this as when the house was sold I really got nothing of thiers. My Dad took the much prized clock which I then inherited.....will have to post a picture of it. Some little things can have so many memories. You know both of my grandfathers had blue eyes.....how did we all get brown eyes?
