Today is Cruisin' Downriver.....it's 90 degrees but feels like 101! For those of you that don't know what this event is all about it consists of people driving their old, restored cars up and down the main drag (Fort St.) I went to the store and there weren't too many people out but I did see some beautiful automobiles (ha). The paint jobs...wow. I hope none of these old cars overheat and break down.
These pictures were taken a few years ago when I sat out there trying to find cars that were older than me...lol.

Busy, busy
I have been so busy with domestic projects that I have hardly had a chance to enjoy summer. I had 3 new windows put in and carpets cleaned. After finally getting everything put back together and ready to savor summer, it is too hot, for me, to even go outside. This weather is supposed to last all of next week...ugh! We have had enough rain to keep everything green, lucky. I really want to get out to the marsh and back to Greenfield Village and I am so disappointed because summer seems to flies by.

Old Train Depot
Ford is having an open house to tour the old train station before they start their restoration. Would love to go but there is no where to park down there. I wonder where all the Ford employees will park when the facility opens.
It is going to be beautiful when it is finished. Years ago when it was really derelict my son got in there....he said they just were in the lobby and were afraid to go further.....a lot of homeless stayed there. A long and interesting history...the same architect that designed Grand Central in NYC did this building and in it's day it was beautiful and famous. It went from that to a steady decline in the 80's when it closed. The building was destroyed by vandals and the weather and lack of upkeep. It was threatened with demolition many times. Thanks to Ford Motor Company for rescuing this gem.

Post Card Perfect
This is sitting on top of an old building in Corktown that is going to be a restaurant. That whole area will really take off now that Ford has bought the old train depot. It's a very exciting time for Detroit.
