This Tree....
.....is for the birds. I pulled into a parking space at the state park and saw this beautiful tree alive with birds. I sat on a picnic table and in 15 minutes I saw several Bluebirds (Blue Birds of happiness) plus Mockingbirds, a Tufted Titmouse, Red-bellied Woodpecker and a Yellow-rumped Warbler. I am going to pay more visits to this tree

Double-crested Cormorant
Cormorants dive underwater to fish. They become waterlogged and need to dry out their wings as you see here.

Forching tulips
If you have followed my blog, you will know about forcing bulbs inside. Last fall I had leftover bulbs that I potted up and kept in the garage over winter. After bringing the pot inside, watering and putting it in a south facing window, I finally have a tulip. The package of tulips, that I bought at Lowes, were mixed. This one is an apricot color and I have several more buds. So nice to have flowers so early. Next year I will order top size bulbs from Dutch Gardens and try this all over again. There is always something to look forward too......

Overland Park Aboretium Kansas
This is the Monet Gardens....it is so beautiful there. I haven't been to the garden for quite a few years but I always think of it so fondly. These were taken, I believe, in late May and it was spectacular!
Spectacular peonies!

Where the birds are.....
If you go to the very back of the garden at Brookgreen you will find birds.......Yellow Throated Warblers, Bluebirds, Finches, Hummingbirds and more. The trees that are there seem to attract them for food and shelter. I don't know what the trees are but they have a tube-like red flower and they are humming with hummers. I will sit by the back wall and watch all the activity. So, the garden has it's statuary and flowers but so do they have birds (and crocodiles). Throughout the park I have seen other birds as well, recently a Kingfisher, White throated sparrows, Towhees, Carolina Wrens and more.
