Remembering the day that we spent at the garden and how lovely the day was. On Thursday we started a heat wave and rounds of storms. On Thursday we had two storms and we lost our power. OMG! it was so hot, no AC or fans...finally 30 hours later our power was restored. After a similar, but worse, in February we were without power for 3 days. It's hard to believe that for a storm we loose power...not a hurricane but a storm. DTE better get their sh...t together. That's the problem with all the wires hanging in the air.

Beautiful Oudolf Gardens

Closed ... really missing the conservatory and surrounding gardens. The structure is undergoing a major renovation with all the glass being replaced. It will reopen in 2024.

From days gone by an old fire hydrant located on the road that cuts through the island. I have to wonder what was there before that they needed a hydrant because now it's just wooded.

I have taken so many photos of the fountain over the years that I had to amuse myself by editing these photos to try to make them more interesting to me.

We spent a very lovey time photographing Oudolf Gardens on Belle Isle yesterday. Had a great time there, then on to lunch at our favorite restaurant in Mexican Town and saving the best for last at La Gloria Bakery.

What is this plant?

I've had these plants for years and I really don't know what they are. I thought that they were Goatsbeard because they do look similar but not the same. They are kind of invasive but look pretty for a few weeks. I like anything that comes back year after year with no help from me.

 

Butterfly Weed

 

Good news.....we're going back to Belle Isle this week.....more flower photos! You'll be begging for mercy by the time I'm done with you...lol! 

This is the vibrant Butterfly Weed....so pretty. I'm sure there are butterflies in the garden but I've never seen any or Hummingbirds either. Will keep a look out.
