This past week I have been spending my time at Huntington Beach State Park with the beach and the birds. This coming week I hope to visit Brookgreen several times and capture the Azaleas. I also want to go to the Marsh Walk and get up close and personal with the cormorants and pelicans. So much to do, so little time!

Calling all birds......
Northern Mockingbird
Lots of birds out this morning at Huntington Beach State Park but not many photos for me. I saw Nuthatches, Chickadees, White-throated Sparrows, Brown Thrasher, Northern Cardinals, Carolina Wrens, Northern Mockingbirds and more. I haven't done a lot of birding in the last few years and my skills are really lacking but I did enjoy this morning. I saw all these birds with very little walking which is always a plus.
This male Cardinal is looking down on a Carolina Wren that was singing his heart out.
Not a good picture but this is a White-throated Sparrow......a pretty bird as sparrows go.
A flock of Great Egrets
Took these photos off of the causeway, from my car. There was a day that I could walk the causeway from one end to another. If I go to the park early there is very little traffic so I can stop and try to get get some shots.

Amaryllis
My granddaughter gave me this spectacular Amaryllis several years ago for Christmas and it has bloomed every year since. the color is spectacular! I always wait until all the Christmas decorations are put away before I bring it up from the basement, water it and put in my south facing dining room window. In a few weeks it sends up a shoot and then off it goes.....a gift that keeps on giving.

Gray Tree Frog
I think that this is a gray tree frog. I would have walked right by it but my granddaughter noticed and we were just amazed that #1. he sat so still, #2 he looked like a rock and #3 how did he get on the top of that sign.....oh ya, he jumped.

Magnolia Plantation
Looking forward to visiting Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, SC. We were there in 2014 and 2015. It is a beautiful place especially when all the Wisteria and Azaleas are in bloom. The first year we did a tram tour of the marsh area and saw a huge Egret rookery and the second year we toured the plantation house. Can't wait for some warmth and sunshine and can't wait to see my SC family!
