The Daydream Continues

 Peaceful pleasures at Greenfield Village
 Heavy traffic on Maple Lane
Omnibus waiting for passengers at the Susquehanna train station.
I chose this house! Sits on a hill right on Maple lane
Needs work!
Love the side enclosed porch
Back of the house looks from the top of the hill to the river....school to the right. No sun porch but this balcony more than makes up for that.....want to get moved in before winter. Wonder if there is a dishwasher? Lol. I don't think that this house is open for tours. Will get more info next time I go.

Let's Escape

I’m here at the Village today to escape from the real world. The constant barrage of Trump shenanigans, mass shootings, the treat of financial gloom and doom and (omg) Sean spicer DWTS controversy is too much to take.
Here, at the Village it's slow and peaceful. The only hustle and bustle is people trying to catch the omnibus to get to the other end of the Village. The quiet is interrupted by the occasional train whistle from the Weiser railroad as it circles the Village.
My favorite part of the Village is the park benches where you can sit and watch the world go by (not the real cruel world) but where people wave and say good morning and the flowers nod in the breeze.
The flower gardens are a continual changing swaths of color and the only sound is the gentle hum of the bumble bees. It seems when people walk through they lower their voice.... in respect for the beauty?
Now, I will admit that not all is perfect in my little world. On busy days, hordes of children descend on the Village, running, yelling and screaming..... these are usually school groups, summer camps and so on. I just go home in these cases.
I’ve been looking for a pretend home to live in. Of course the house are all really old... no mod cons included. I’d like a sunroom, a garden and a view. I want to sit on the back lawn and wait for the train to come by.
Yes, imagination is a wonderful thing and a relief from Trump World.
Today I met a very nice lady who showed me around the kitchen garden.... I loved the popcorn plant. Then I met a couple from Wyandotte and we had a long discussions about butterflies and a flight path app.
I think I’ll catch the omnibus to the covered bridge and then take the train to the front of the Village , then back to the real world.

We're Going to the Zoo....

 Red Panda
This Panda seemed to enjoy all of us gawking at him/her and posed for photos as well.
I was disappointed that the bears (brown and polar) were not to be seen....nor were the Otters, another of my favorites. The Tiger exhibit was closed also. Last year this panda exhibit was closed and the area is now open and you can walk all around it.

Zoo Flowers

I was so impressed by all the flower gardens at the Detroit Zoo. They were in full bloom and just a riot of colors. All the beds were well kept. I think that I took just as many photos of the flowers as I did of the animals.

Also impressive were all the butterflies! Across from the bear den (the bears were nowhere in sight) there were butterfly bushes (Buddleia) and there must have been 20 Monarchs flying around.  Monarch seem to be making a come back.

I've Been Around

So sorry that I haven't posted for awhile but I've been busy with "summer things"........the zoo, Cranbrook, the Village, church festivals and just sitting on my back porch watching for the hummingbirds. I have also done a bit of junk journaling. I have tons of photos to edit but can't seem to sit down to do it. It all seems to be waiting for winter or a rainy day.

Cranbrook House and Gardens

Iconic Blue Door
We spent a few hours strolling through Cranbrook Gardens the other day. The flowers were so beautiful. We always seem to go there when it is hot and the sun is glaring (not ideal for photography) The gardens were lovely.

James Scott Memorial Fountain

I've taken hundreds of photos of the fountain on Belle Isle so I thought I'd put a different editing spin on them. Just something different. So glad that I got these because I just read that the fountain was shut off due to low water pressure (something about the construction on Jefferson). They don't know how long it will be down.....restrooms also closed.
