March 20th

This snow that I thought so beautiful in December is now causing me to be disgusted and depressed. We had a few days that got into the 40s but it is still cold....29 now and last night we had a several inches of snow . It is dark and dreary. I didn't go on my photo shoot to Historic Fort Wayne. I could not face the cold and tromping through the snow. Really had been looking forward to it but when I got up this morning and saw the snow...well....where is my gumption?...in my warm house! 

Tomorrow I may venture out for a walk at Lake Erie to look for the first harbinger of Spring , the Red-winged Blackbird. If there is a glimmer of sunlight I will go.

In 5 days, March 20th, it will be the first day of Spring....really? What a nasty joke Mother Nature plays on us by letting us believe that a date would make a difference. Remind me......no complaining of the heat this summer. I will be up at dawn to find a cool, sunny morning to walk and look for birds, butterflies, wild flowers and dragon and damselflies. I can't wait.

Fiesta Ware

New(ish) Fiesta Ware teapots, sugar bowl and creamer

Two spout tea pot...divided inside to hold the steeping tea on one side and hot water to add to the cup if needed in the other. I bought this at an antique store in Livonia and had not seen anything like it. I don't use it but do use the Fiesta Ware. It is in perfect condition and I want to keep it that way :-)

Quilts

When we went on our photo shoot this morning we discovered there was a quilt display at the Historic Flat Rock Hotel and at the General Store. The quilts were beautiful and some seemed quite old. Took lots of pictures, the sun was shining and it was a great morning. Went out to eat after and  we sure livened up that Big Boys  ;-)

 Wow, what an exciting game today! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Unfortunately, the lighting is so bad in this gym that even the still pictures are blurry. So, I put effects on them to make them look interesting if nothing else. Even used a different camera to no avail. Wish I could have caught some of the exciting action.

You Going?

When this DIA shoot was planned through my Photography Class, I asked myself what could be left to photograph at the DIA that I hadn't done before. Well, I should have known that venturing off in another direction, I would find all sorts of new treasures to see. It was amazing there on Friday evening....the only night that the DIA is open. It's artists night (see last photo) and there was a formal event of some kind plus a concert of Argentine Tango music in the Rivera Court.  I loved being there at night and all these pictures that I am posting are all new to me.
