Barn yard

I love roosters ...these especially, are so colorful. Took these photos in the Charleston area at the Magnolia Plantation in the spring. There were Guinea Fowl all over the place too but none of my shots came out good enough to post...they are pretty cool looking too.
Now you know where that expression "Cock of the walk" came from
Have some lovely shots of this peacock...he was pretty happy to display his finery!

Already Thinking of Spring

Today is bitter cold here in southeast Michigan...like most of the country. It's only mid-November and this is January weather, which leaves me really worried. 11 degrees when I got up this morning with winds howling and more snow predicted. Ugh! Too cold to be out with my camera so I did what any other good photographer would do....dig out some old photos.
Remembering April at Brookgreen Gardens.

Don't Know What Happened to the Santa Maria

These replica ships were docked in The Detroit river in Wyandotte in the late summer...just the Nina and Pinta....guess the Santa Maria wasn't worthy of a replica. I didn't ask or tour just got some pics and left.

Still Summer in my Dreams

Ha!

Garabage Day in Michigan

Look what the weather brought us overnight!
Took this with my cell phone in the early morning hours......looking down from my bedroom window. Yes, the Chore Guy did come Saturday and as a result 12 bags and one can of yard debris just in the nick of time.

Redbird

I saw a big, fat, red Cardinal at my bird bath (frozen unfortunately) this morning. The reason I am commenting is that Cardinals have been scarce this summer. There are usually a pair around the neighborhood but not this year. And....not a cardinal to be seen at Kensington either. I have gotten my best cardinal photos there. So, that's the reason that I was so excited...hope he sticks around all winter. (PS: I don't feed the birds at all because I only get sparrows and starlings to the feeder). I do try to feed the goldfinches but the sparrows even get those seeds...clinging to the sock for dear life. That's the downside of living in the city.
The picture above was taken at Lake Erie Metropark....always lots of the redbirds there.

Elizabeth Park in Autumn

Oh, it's sooooo cold out. Remembering last Tuesday when it was in the 60s, sunny and beautiful. Had such a nice walk at the park. Now, it is freezing and snow is predicted for tonight. I have to get out today and cut back my roses and do a little clean up...praying the "Chore Guy" shows up today to do my leaves. The dilemma is that the last yard waste pick up is over a week from this Monday. I am sure that the "mighty oak" will not have dropped all it's leave yet....what to do, what to do?
