Bonsai

Three lovely Bonsai on display at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor. It always amazes me that these miniature trees can grow in such shallow soil. These were from private collections and I think one was over 30 years old.

Winter Trails

I wish that it looked more like winter...in fact, it was quite a lovely day when I was at Kensington.
Just saw that the state of Michigan was named the second worst winter state to live in only just behind Minnesota. The main complaint was the lack of sunshine and dirty snow. Read more:

My favorite trail starts on Wildwing up to the shelter and then turn right up bluebird hill and left onto Aspen trail.....take that all the way to the nature center. I also like Deer Run, especially in the fall.

Click to enlarge this one.....that Jay has four seeds in his beak.

Heart

Well. the holidays are officially over.....I have taken down all the Christmas decorations! It looks so bare and sad in my house and to add to the gloom, it is rainy and foggy outside. It is going to be a long winter. I wish it would snow, that would cheer me up.

New Years Day

On New Years day I went to Kensington for a walk. It was wonderful....breathing the fresh, unheated air was a real treat. Of, course, everyone else had the same idea...the place was packed. This time of year it's difficult to find any good things to shoot and the birds were keeping a low profile as well. I was forced to go to the nature center's feeding station for a few bird photos. It was great to get outside....sunny and not too cold. Friday we are going to a botanical gardens in Ann Arbor so hopefully there will be some colorful flowers...can't wait!

I just need to see a spot of color.......
