Detroit Parade Company

Had a great shoot at the Parade Company yesterday. The colors were great and I recognized many of my favorite floats and attractions. I even saw the long green caterpillar. Took tons of pictures...these are just a few.

Still felt bad missing my Crack O' Dawn club but since it was raining I guess I made the best choice to be inside.
We went to Mexican Town for lunch which I really enjoyed. Never have the chance to go there.

Great shoot, great people...can't wait to see our group photo...we all had clown noses on :-)

My Spring Garden or Everything's Coming Up Tulips

Today I saw my first American Goldfinch in my back yard drinking at my kettle fountain. He didn't go to the new finch feeder though. I'm wondering, now, if the seed is old or wet. They always come for the seed from my birch tree but last year stayed around all summer because I fed them. I had such trouble with the squirrel knocking down the seed sock so this year I bought a new caged feeder and so far it has been left alone even by the sparrows.
I love looking out to the back yard and seeing the small yellow and black birds flitting around.

Also saw a House Finch a few days ago at the birdbath. Keeping my eyes open for him to return.

Even though I didn't plant any tulips last year, I still have a nice display. This fall I plan on ordering from "Dutch Bulbs" and will mark the areas now where they will go.
About three years ago, when I decided to downsize my garden, I planted the lovely pink tulips behind the birdbath and then filled in the whole area with vinca (Periwinkle). The bed has finally filled all in and the periwinkle blue flowers are in bloom. Looks so pretty and there is no nicer shade of blue as periwinkle. Note the blue flowers at the bottom of the last photo.

City Cafe

We have the opportunity, through our camera class, to hang two photos in an Allen Park coffee house....City Cafe. The above two photographs are the ones that I choose and have matted and framed. We can put a price on them to sell but fat chance of that happening. I may do that just to cover the cost of the photo and frames etc. Anyway, we are meeting there on Saturday after our parade company shoot to hang the pictures, so that should be fun.

Never know, someone might like bleeding hearts and bluebirds. :-)

Muskrat Having Breakfast

Muskrat having a meal right outside the lodge. The only way that I can appreciate these little rats is to see them in a story from Beatice Potter or Wind In the Willows. Anyway, he was pretty cute munching on his greens and allowing us a lot of time to ooh and awh and take his Photo.
