Deer in a Safe Place

So happy that these beautiful deer live in the park where they are safe from hunters.

Back in the 70's when we lived in Waltz, our property was next to wooded acreage that had a lot of dead trees. Well, these trees attracted all varieties of woodpeckers. Since then, I have not seen a Red-headed (would love to) but Sat. I did see a Hairy Woodpecker! Yes, Paul confirmed that this lady is a Hairy! Doesn't take much to make me happy :-)

Catching the Morning Light

 What a beautiful morning for a walk...just me and my camera. Happy to say that I made it all the way around the Trapper's Run Trail (at a very slow pace). It was chilly and I had to wear my fleece jacket. Sun was shining brightly and all God's creatures were out to greet me. Saw deer, bugs and birds. Above bird is a Downy Woodpecker...hoping it might be a Hairy. Sent a pic over to Paul at the park to see if I might be right. Also saw a pair of Red-bellied Woodpeckers, a Hummingbird and a flock of Jays. Must take advantage of these sunny days...looking forward to the leaves changing!
