Fun Faces at the DIA
These busts were small and also amusing....think that they were caricatures but I hope not of real people.

Melt Snow, Melt!
Well the temperatures are rising and the snow is starting to melt...yea! We will see the 50's a few times this week. I am wondering how long it will take to melt all the snow that we have. When I was at the store shopping the parking lot was a mess of melting dirty snow, slowly uncovering months of trash and debris. What a mess but I guess necessary to get to spring...I need to get to South Carolina where everything is already green!
A Drive Around Belle Isle
I have already posted photos of all the bridges on Belle Isle as well as some of the pavilions but here are other sights that called for a "Kodak moment" as the old saying goes. From most perspectives, it seems that the city is right there especially when the river is not in the picture and sometimes it hardly feels that you are on an island.
This is the McArthur Bridge coming on to the island. Whenever I ride over the bridge and see all the lights all higgly piggly and busted all over the place, I hope that the State will restore all of them this summer. I am really looking forward to going to the island in the summer and in the evening.....the lights will look so pretty lit up.
This is a very old and falling down art deco bridge in the middle of the island....I think on Oakway Road. This seems to be beyond restoration.
My last find ....a small red bridge that is towards the north end of the island.

Fotosketcher
I think that I have taken a picture of this shed from every angle. Whoever thought to paint the shed this color, thank you! I know that it was years ago as the blue has faded to an even better color that the original, I suspect.
Having fun with my Fotosketcher program!

Crack O' Dawn March
Huddled together for warmth ;-)
We are a hardy bunch but everyone is sick, sick, sick of winter. We all stood very still and silent listening for a Red-Winged Blackbird, who is the harbinger of Spring....nothing!
Looks just like last month
Too cold to listen

The Palm House at Belle Isle Conservatory
The conservatory is called the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory. I was so impressed with all the improvements made from last year. I think they got some money from somewhere. Everything was neat and tidy and a lot of plants were cut back. Many new under plantings were put in especially in the Palm House. It was like night and day from previous years when I visited. I am going to try to get there at different seasons because in the showroom plants are changed out....now in the winter it is Cyclamens and Kalanchoe...will post those at a later date. The summer is unbearably hot and humid but I was told by one of the workers to come early when it opens at 10am. Anyway, at this time of year it is a real joy to see the colors of all the beautiful flowers.
