This is a photo blog but I do not have any pictures to go with this story. I thought of running home and getting my camera but taking picture just didn't feel right.
This morning a house in my neighborhood was on fire. I heard the sirens and walked over to the next block to see what was happening. The firefighters were just breaking down the door and smoke was billowing out when I got there. I noticed two cars in the driveway and my heart was in my throat as I feared that someone was in that house. A few minutes later two firefighters came out the front door carrying a woman who seemed unresponsive but by the time they got her to the ambulance she looked awake and was moving around. Praying that she if OK.
I was scared...this wasn't a TV or movie drama, this was real! This stuff happens everyday but I have never seen it before and I still can't get the scene out of my mind.
I was so impressed with the fire personnel who worked with a sense of urgency but not panic, who worked as an efficient team and who this morning saved a life. Thank you!
The other heroes in this story are the two young guys who first noticed the smoke, called 911 and pounded on the door to try to alert the resident. Whoever you two are, you saved a life today....be proud of yourselves.
