We had quite the winter adventure getting to Detroit this morning. It was snowing heavily, visibility was poor and Mt. Elliot was closed with a very strange detour. We finally arrived to find that many of the floats that were in this Thanksgiving Day parade were parked outside and were covered in snow.
I haven't had time to edit my photos but thought that I would post these showing the inside of the warehouse so you can get an idea of how huge it is. I overheard one of the guides saying that they rent the building for $1 a year. Floats and other parade attractions are stored here as well as repaired.
This is the scene that greeted us as we walked outside (note floats in the background). It was a treacherous drive home but we managed to make a stop at Mexican town for lunch and got home safe and sound......although with frazzled nerves.
OMG! ....are we silly!
