Mary Lou has two teasels to check out how velcro was invented
Linda and her dog, Glory
The trail was flooded as I predicted. We were meeting people coming the other way and they told us that they couldn't get through (without getting pretty wet) and turned around and came back...that's what we did. I would have liked to have seen the flooded area and got a picture.
This sight was worth the walk...two Bald Eagles being "mobbed" by a "cloud" of blackbirds...wow, what a cool sight.Hawk watchers turned out in this weather and let me tell you it was cold and very windy by the water. Hope they were rewarded with a few hawk sightings.
Some ahead and some behind
Mallards...hello to you too mister!
Last of the summer flowers....Jerusalem Artichoke, I think
New England Aster
Kevin checking out some Warblers
This is Mary Lou's pet Shrew. The fact that it has been dead for 5 years and she keeps it in the refrigerator makes the story even more interesting. Well, of course, I am kidding about the pet bit but it brought to question why women are sometimes referred to as "shrews" I googled it and could not find out what behavior of the shrew makes it comparable to a nasty woman other than Shakespeare's play "Taming of the Shrew" If anyone know let us in on it.
Very tiny...look at that snout...you can see the relation to a mole.
