Marsh Walk

Last year, when I was in South Carolina, I met a man at the state park who told me that there was a pair of Oystercatchers nesting in Murrell Inlet at the Marshwalk. I didn't (still don't ) have a long enough lens but I was able to get a good look at them through my binoculars. They have a carrot shaped nose...funny looking birds. Would love to have seen them cracking some oysters. I also got some other great pictures there so I will be sure to get there again this year. Along the Marsh Walk are some really great places to eat (Drunkin' Jacks my favorite) but I had never been there during the day. Now it will be one my daily stops after Huntington Beach State Park and Brookgreen Gardens......then Chick fil a for lunch...yea!

Memories

When we were on Belle Isle last week, we froze our butts off. The wind was cutting. It was difficult taking pictures with such a shaky hand. Seeing the fountain reminded me of the summer months. I could go to the island every week and find pictures to take.
Of all the beautiful flowers in the conservatory, this orange tree reminded me most of summer....citrus drinks and summer dew.

No Green but Aqua Blue

Look at the color of the Detroit River....beautiful!
When driving northbound on 75, traffic (trucks) were backed up in both directions. Even though this picture is too far for my lens and it is really hazy, you can still see all the trucks lined up on the bridge itself. A new bridge is definitely needed!

Pussy Willows

It's been many years since I've seen a Pussy Willow....they feel so soft. This was outside the Belle Isle Conservatory.

Beautiful Amaryllis

My granddaughter gave me these Amaryllis the Christmas before last and one the Christmas before that. A gift that keeps on giving year after year. They only bloom once a year so I put the plant out on my front porch for the summer and fertilize and then it goes dormant during the winter....low light and no water until you want them to bloom. A lot of people time them to bloom at Christmas but I don't have the room with all the holiday decorations etc. So I really enjoy these in the dark months of February and March. Thank you Emma.

Peaceful Sunday

It was pretty chilly Sunday but the sun was shining brightly and everyone was thinking of Spring. The park was busy with people just riding through. I could hear children playing in my neighborhood. Also, I am seeing signs of tulips poking up through the soil. Can't be too much longer can it?

Victorian Farmhouse

I came across this beautiful Victorian farmhouse right in Riverview. At one time this developed area must have all been farmland.

WJR Transmitter Building

I got it in my head that I would head over to Riverview to photograph this beautiful Art Deco style building that is the transmitter for WJR. I was so disappointed in several respects. First there were trucks parked in front of the building and then heavy equipment behind. The whole thing was surrounded by barbed wire fencing. I found the gate opened and got a few shots from there (I was on the public road) when two people came over and asked if they could help me. I wasn't on their property. Anyway, here's a few shots that I did manage to get and I am sure that you will agree that it is a beautiful building.
