News from my backyard..................
Just a little news from my place:
It's looking pretty good back there and I have been trying to tidy up. We are finally getting some much needed rain today....good for the garden.
The other morning I hung the Hummingbird feeder and the Finch sock.....in a few hours they were found! I had a House Finch pair at the sock and a male Hummingbird at the feeder. The next day two male Goldfinches and a female Hummingbird.....I'm so happy!
I planted some seed that is suppose to attract Hummingbirds and butterflies. They are just now starting to sprout. We shall see what happens. And...this year I planted one tomato plant. For the last several years I have had bad luck with tomatoes so we will see what happens to this one. I put a double fence around it because of that darn bunny.
In the photo you can see the rain......don't want it to go away today. LOL
note: my Dad's old watering can.

Back in the day....
In the 1800s, everyone came to Belle Isle to walk, visit at the casino, canoe and swim. There are two roads that go right down the middle of the island and by some left behind items, I would think they were more popular than they are now. This art deco bridge is a favorite of mine but wow, just since I was there last it's been graffitid and is a real mess. What a shame.
An old relic fire hydrant in the middle of no where
Now that sign has been there awhile.....came across a few like that.
A bridge to nowhere

Major Tree Trimming and Removal
My once beautiful Blue Spruce is gone....the tree was here when I bought my property 25 years ago. In recent years it became diseased and then my neighbor, Tina, took her pruners to it (twice) and totally made a mess of it. (even calling the police didn't stop her) It feels really bare and open now. That tree gave me a lot of privacy. Of course, I can be more nosey now when I sit on my front porch...lol
These guys totally earned ( 5 hours later ) the money that I paid them. They trimed the Oak hanging over my driveway, trimmed the Locust tree that had dead branches hanging over my garage and totally trimmed up my River Birch that was hanging all over the place. Kudos to Blain Tree Service.

New Flower Garden
This garden promises to be extraordinary......it is around the Carillon Tower . Hope they are fixing the drainage there first as it is often under water. They are saying it will be open this summer ...looking forward to seeing it.
A lot of other construction going on the island....looks like they are laying under ground electric and the road is closed off for a short distance on the Canadian side. Still much improvement is needed there.

Blue Angels
This morning the Blue Angels flew over my city on the way to Detroit. They are honoring the health care workers and first responders. I went to the old Sears parking lot because it is so wide open there. I couldn't believe how many people were there.... many more than when Sears was open. I did the best that I could with the lens that I have but they were pretty high especially flying north. It was great seeing them....can't recall if I ever saw them before.
Flying north to Detroit
Flying south from the Detroit area
Goodbye and thank you!
