I love all the different types of transportation at the Village. I have never ridden in any of these old cars....because I don't want to wait in the long lines. Someday I will have to give it a try.. Even the maintenance or other workers use old means of transportation like old trucks or bicycles.

Belle Isle Casino

I am sorry that I was unable to get any pictures of the main room as they were setting up for an event....in fact, that's the only reason that I was able to get in at all. So, I just focused on details. I would have loved to go upstairs but was afraid to trespass any further as I though that there may be offices there.
There is a long history of this building which was originally built in 1887 and was a wood structure. It burnt down and was rebuilt in 1907. The building was never used for gambling but as a gathering place for events etc. Casino is a word also used to mean a public place used for entertainment. Belle Isle Conservatory and Lily Pond

You can't tell by looking at these photos that there were hundreds of children swarming through out the conservatory and the lily pond area. It took some skill but I was able to shoot around them. I want to get out there one more time before they turn the fountain off on the 20th and also sit in peace at the conservatory and gardens. Winter is just around the corner......
