Camera Update

My camera was hopefully going to be done by today...no such luck. Midwest Camera called to say that the part it needs won't be in until mid-week so the soonest that I would have it would be next Friday. My question is this......when I took my my camera in a month ago and was told by the tech that the display needed replaced why wasn't the part ordered then???  Just sayin'......that would be the way to run an efficient business.
I have felt that I would never see my camera again. Their policy is if you pick it up before it is done they charge you half the estimated cost to fix it. That's like holding the camera hostage. Just getting a call from them today made me feel as if they were at least acknowledging me and my camera's existence so that's a good thing. All my planned photo shoots for this month have gone out the window. I will be happy if I have it in time for my photography class.

At the River

A winter walk along the Huron River was met with a few surprises including these two hardy canoe guys. Also was glad to have some geese and ducks pose for a photo. It was a gloomy day and my pictures show it. Flat photos......

Brightening up a Dreary Day

What an incredible dark and dreary day we have had! Granted it is unseasonably warm but who cares. I want to see the sun! I want to see some color and beauty I am posting these flower photos that I took last September at the Overland Park Arboretum, Kansas  (see link on sidebar)

Best for Birding (and other sights)

This is a photo of  the hike/bike trail bridge taken from the road. Even with the freezing temperature yesterday, there were runners and even canoes on the river. In nice weather, of course there are cyclists too. I love this area for birding. Two years ago I saw a flock of Bluebirds and Yellow-rumped Warblers here. On the trees to the right of this picture there are poison ivy vines growing up to the tree tops. The birds love the berries and that's what they were eating when I spotted them.
Yesterday, there was a flock of Juncos. I love these little birds who come down for a visit from Canada in the winter. I also saw Song Sparrows, Downy and Red-breasted Woodpeckers, Chickadees, Cardinals, Blue jays, Crows and Titmice.

When I walk this path, I can't help thinking about how it looks in summer. There are always wild flowers growing along side and little brooks trickling down the hills. In the fall the trail is covered by leaves and the leaves float down as you walk along. It is beautiful in any season.

Snowy Trails

Had a lovely walk at Lower Huron Metropark today. Overcast and in the mid 20s...not bad if you kept moving. Had fun watching these hockey players at the skating ponds. The second pond was groomed but totally empty. Wish that I had skates...although I'd probably fall and break my hip :-)
Anyway, I took tons of photos so I have lots to play around with until I get my SLR back (if ever).

Thinking of my garden....

As soon as the holidays are over, the seed catalogs start arriving. I don't do much ordering now but I still love to look through them and dream of my spring garden and plot and plan. I always have changes to make although these days it is more to do with down sizing and planting easy care plants and flowers.
About the 3rd week of May I make the yearly trek to Rochester Hills and Troy to Bordines and Telleys. Both of these are the best of the best places to buy flowers. My friend Gretta used to make the trip with me and we would make it an all day deal with lunch included. One year we bought so much that Gretta had stuff on her lap.
So, now, when it was a high of 19 degrees today and 3 inches of snow predicted for tonight, I decided to think back or forward actually to the wonderful colors of Spring.

Camera Update

Called Midwest Camera again and my camera is still not done....three weeks. She did, sort of, promise it for the end of the month...ugh! That will make it over a month to repair. I despair to ever see my camera again.
