I had to read up on the old myth that the storks bring babies after seeing a Woodstork in Murrells Inlet. Seems the story goes back as far as ancient Greek and Roman mythology but became popular during the Victorian era when it was an easy way to explain how babies were brought into the world. They are a pretty big bird but how to explain how the bird knew which house to deliver the baby.
