Thank you Mary Jo for finding our way there. We spent quite a bit of time snooping around the area and this lovely old house. Can't wait to see it fully restored and watch the process when it airs in November on HGTV.
PS: Went by the house today (not on purpose, we got lost) and Nicole was there at the back of the house and they were filming
The house was built in 1878 for the Ransom Gillis family. There is a long history attached to the house and anyone that lives in the Detroit area is familiar with the house as it has loomed over this very run down areas for years. The most recent happenings here are from the latest Batman movie with Ben Affleck as Batman (which has yet to be released). This is where his home was (with the help of CG to make it look like Wayne Manor)
They were filming but Nicole wasn't there....I bet if she was we wouldn't have been allowed so close.
Can't wait to see this turret restored.....what a view from up there. The picture below is what you see from the front of the home....the RenCen, Comerica Park and Ford Field.
Across the side street.
