Not wishing to be in SC now. Temperatures running in the high 90s to over 100 degrees....yikes! Way too hot for this time of year for them. I wouldn't even go outside. While here in Michigan it's cool and rainy....it rains almost everyday. Tomorrow is June 1st ....can summer start already?
While Brookgreen has numerous flower beds planted and there maybe Magnolias still in bloom, the amazing flowers of April are long gone. I will be there again in December and can't wait to see the gardens of winter.

Statuary at Brookgreen Gardens
I think that over the years I have taken photos of all the sculptures in the gardens not including several indoor areas....should add that to my to do list for my next visit. All the art is displayed to it's best advantage......Kodak moments everywhere.

Discouraged
I'm going to buy my annuals tomorrow at Bourdines but, honestly, don't know if the ground is warm or dry enough to plant. More rain last night but this afternoon it is bright and sunny. We really have had no Spring. This is making me so sad :-(

Spring
Poppies and Snapdragons growing in Anne's Garden at Brookgreen
I alway choose to go to South Carolina in the Spring because of all the wonderful flowers and flowering trees and shrubs. It's too hot and humid in the summer and way too much traffic. This year I am going down for Christmas. Wonder what will be on show at the gardens. I'm going to miss the Night of a Thousand Candles. Looking forward to another trip to see my family there.
Variegated Trillium in the Kitchen Garden
Live Oak Allee
Wow, Dogwood, Azaleas, Daffodils and Tulips all in this photo
I love looking at all these beautiful flowers....reliving my trip all over again.
These are almost done tulips covered in petals from a flowering tree above. Outside the Kitchen Garden.

Junk Journaling
My first page in my new junk journal....still trying to figure out how to be creative yet still get a message across. I guess that there will be pages that I actually journal but I'd rather use pictures and color.

MIA
These pages have 2 pockets on the left and on the right is a "waterfall" which flip ups and has family photos. While I was at my daughters, I kept a daily journal (that I made) and it is in this album as well. Lots of wonderful memories.
This is one place that I added 2 flip outs. Room for lots of pictures
This is my new "junk journal". I gutted an old book and covered it with this Waverley fabric. The cover came out really nice.
The end of the book shows the strings exposed from the pamphlet stitches that holds the pages (signatures) in the book. Three signatures in this one. Also note the key charm.
This book is going to be fun.....it is worked on when the mood strikes, not done all at once. Totally different from a scrapbook. No rules here....hence junk journal.
Lots of empty pages to fill.
Plans in the works for a lovely flower scrapbook with photos of Greenfield Village and the beautiful gardens there. I have accumulated lots of photos from the Village.Saturday, May 11, 2019
Blue Bells
at Brookgreen
Just an update from my place......chilly and frost warning tonight. Enough already.....its May!
Most of my cleaning done. Need to take a break so on Monday I will start my scrapbook! I'm really excited and can't wait to get started. Still stuff to do so maybe later in the week I'll get back at it.
I received some beautiful Mother's Day Spring flowers from my daughter today. Tomorrow, I'm having lunch with my son and grandson. Waiting to see if my oldest son remembers me.
Wish it would warm up and the sun would shine......soon it will be June and that's summer already.

Little Island
Driving into Huntington Beach State Park, SC, you have to drive over the causeway. On the left is the saltwater marsh that has tides and so on. On the right is fresh water with some salt (brackish) water. On this side there is a little island that always has some visitors.....birds, shorebirds and alligators. Sometimes there will be Anhinga or Cormorant sunning themselves. Alligators have been know to cross the street and recently someone got a photo of one crossing at the crosswalk. Low tide on the saltwater side finds many herons and egrets fishing. Sometimes I just drive across the causeway to see who's out that morning.
