Rookery at Kensington

I haven't been out to the rookery for several years and was surprised to see how many egrets are nesting there now. It was almost all Great Blue Herons then (only 2 years ago). Anyway, what an amazing sight! They were all coming and going and we could hardly tear ourselves away and in fact, only made it to the end of the boardwalk and over the little metal bridge....where we found a nesting Mute Swan and  a Sandhill Crane. By then we were too hot and tired and headed for home...or out for lunch actually.
The next day a photographer that I know posted a story on Facebook about 3 people that flew a drone over the rookery (I assume to take photos) and had all the birds in a state. He took their picture and their car with plates and called the cops. Kevin (out interpreter at Lake Erie) told me that the the metroparks have a rule of no drone flying in the park. Why would anyone do that and disturb nature? What if the birds won't come back to nest next year? I was really upset to hear this story...what jerks.
Proud papa still keeping the nest in good order
